There are various reasons that you might have earned untaxed income, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You\u2019re self-employed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have a side gig alongside your full-time job<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019re a landlord&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You have capital gains from investments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You make a profit from selling assets (e.g. a house)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019re claiming pension tax relief<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you receive your bill from HMRC, the big question is: <strong>when do you have to pay for taxes<\/strong>? The answer is before the deadline. Otherwise, HMRC penalties kick in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When is the deadline for tax returns?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two key deadlines that you need to know about for tax returns.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you\u2019ve never done a tax return before, you\u2019ll first need to register for Self Assessment. This is essentially how you tell HMRC that you\u2019re earning untaxed income. So the moral of the story?
