After our accountants have filed your tax return with HMRC, it can take a few days to show up in the portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the portal will automatically generate a submission receipt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A submission receipt is proof that HMRC has received your Self Assessment tax return. So once you submit a tax return, whether that\u2019s through us or using HMRC\u2019s digital service, you\u2019ll be able to confirm it\u2019s been received using the submission receipt.
You can also confirm this over the phone by giving HMRC a ring<\/a>. Have the reference number of the submission receipt on hand when you call up, which they\u2019ll ask you for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When do you get the submission receipt?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll get the submission receipt as soon as the tax return is submitted to HMRC. However, once you click submit, it can take some time for the screen to load and confirm that it\u2019s been received. You can always log out and log back in at a later time to check the status of your tax return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you do get confirmation it\u2019s been submitted, you can then access your submission receipt. We recommend keeping the reference number somewhere secure for future reference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to check this inside the Taxfix dashboard<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Step 1<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Log into your Taxfix account and select the tax year you are looking to file a tax return for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click the “view”<\/strong>button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Scroll to the bottom of the page where it says\u00a0“you can always access your tax return and other documents here”<\/strong> and click the\u00a0button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Click on “Tax returns & Calculations”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the drop-down menu that appears, you’ll be able to select and download your tax return, tax calculation, and HMRC submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also click on and download your submission receipt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You now have proof that your return has been received by HMRC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can ring them and quote the reference number on the submission receipt if you\u2019d prefer to receive confirmation over the phone. Remember, they won\u2019t call you to confirm so you\u2019ll have to make the first move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
