Cookie policy of Taxfix

Last updated: November 2024

For Taxfix, transparency in the handling of your user data is of the utmost importance.

Below we inform you in detail about the scope and purpose of the processing of personal data on our website, the use of cookies and similar tracking technologies (together "cookies"). This Taxfix Cookie Policy applies in addition to our Privacy Policy  .

1. Which technologies are used?

1.1. Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites or online services store in a user's browser so that the corresponding website remembers information about the user.

First-party cookies are set by us (or on our behalf) on our website.

Third-party cookies are set by other companies whose functions are integrated into our website (e.g. google.com). Third-party cookies are generally set by our partners. They support us in the analysis and optimisation of our services or in our marketing objectives.

We use both persistent cookies and session cookies. Session cookies are temporary cookies that are stored on your device while you visit our website. They expire at the end of a browser session - this is usually the case when a user closes the browser. Persistent cookies have a longer lifespan. They expire when a fixed expiry date is reached - or when they are deleted manually.

1.2. Pixel

A pixel is a transparent graphic consisting of one pixel that is embedded in a website or message. It is usually used to track whether the corresponding website or message has been accessed or opened. When a pixel is activated, it records a visit to the current website or message and may read or set cookies. We use pixels to learn more about your interactions with our email or web content - for example, whether you have interacted with our adverts.

1.3. Tracking URL

Tracking URLs are customised links. They help us to understand where the traffic on our websites comes from.

1.4. Local storage

Local storage allows a website or application to store information locally on your device - similar to cookies. Local storage can be used to optimise your user experience - for example, by providing functions or saving your preferences or speeding up the functioning of the website.

1.5. Javascript

JavaScript is a programming language that can be used to develop trackers. We use the trackers to record how you interact with our website and other websites.

1.6. Ad personalization

This Google cookie is used for personalised advertising experiences and adapts ads based on the user's preferences and online activities.

1.7. Personalisation memory

This cookie from Google stores user preferences and personalisation settings, which improves the overall experience by maintaining individualised content and functions.

1.8. Other technologies

We use other technologies, such as mobile IDs, for similar purposes as described in this cookie policy.

2. What are these technologies used for?

Like most online service providers, we use cookies for a variety of reasons. For example, we use them to optimise our services, keep our website secure, understand which features are most popular, improve the user experience, display appropriate advertising and generally provide a more intuitive, tailored experience for our customers. We divide our cookies into the following categories:

2.1. Required Cookies

These cookies are essential to operate our website and provide you with our services. This also includes technologies that ensure that security risks are recognised and prevent you from remaining logged in or that enable you to access other functions and features. Without the necessary cookies, our website would not function properly. You may not even be able to access it due to technical limitations.

2.2. Analysis cookies

Analysis cookies help us to understand how our application is used, to measure the performance of our websites and to adapt and optimise our application to individual needs on the basis of analytical insights.

2.3. Marketing cookies

We use these cookies for advertising purposes - for example, to show our users more relevant and targeted adverts and to measure how well our advertising campaigns work. We use cookies in this category, for example, to find out whether content has been viewed, how many people have clicked on a particular advert or whether someone who has seen an advert has come back later and become active on our website.

3. Which cookies do we use?

Below you will find a detailed list of the cookies that we use in our applications as part of our services.

Please note that this list may be updated from time to time to ensure that it is always up to date.

3.1. Essential cookies

  • Taxfix - Initial provider: We use cookies for information about the logged-in user in order to provide the user with essential functions of the Taxfix web application. For example, we store the user's consent to cookies in the browser so that they are automatically applied on the user's next visit and increase the user's security.
  • Cloudflare - We use Cloudflare to improve the performance of our website. Cloudflare is also used for website security and stability. Cloudflare requires cookies to detect malicious visitors to our customers' websites and to minimise the blocking of legitimate users.
  • Singular Labs Inc. - We use Singular Labs Inc. to improve the user experience. When a user registers a customer account and selects the "stay logged in" option, a cookie is stored on the end device. This cookie stores user settings and preferences to enable smoother navigation and interaction on the website.

    3.2. Analysis cookies
  • Google Analytics Products - We use Google Analytics to understand how our media campaigns work and how you interact with our website in order to improve the user experience.
  • Hotjar - Hotjar is a technology service that helps us to better understand the experiences of our users. Cookies are used to store the Hotjar user ID, which only applies to this website, in the browser. This ensures that behaviour on subsequent visits to the same website is assigned to the same user ID.
  • Segment.io, Inc. - We use Segment to distinguish users who are not logged in and to repeat the logging of tracking events up to ten times.

    3.3. Marketing cookies
  • Facebook - Facebook helps you to stay in touch with your network via its website and mobile application. Cookies make it easier for you to share content on Facebook. Occasionally, we may present you with targeted adverts on Facebook based on your engagement with our website(s).
  • Google Advertising Products - Google tracking cookies allow us to track whether you perform certain actions on our websites after you have seen or clicked on one of our adverts placed via Google. Based on the content you engage with on our websites, Google may place targeted adverts on other Google partner websites.
  • HubSpot, Inc. - Hubspot cookies track website interactions, store user preferences and help provide personalised content. They also support functions such as live chat and form submission.
  • LinkedIn - The LinkedIn cookies and the Insight tag enable us to create campaign reports on website visitors who come via the campaigns we run on LinkedIn.
  • Microsoft (Bing Ads) - Bing Ads Universal Event Tracking helps us understand how our Bing campaigns perform after ads have been clicked.
  • Spotify Embed - The Spotify embedded cookie enables the embedded player to function correctly, stores user playback preferences and collects analyses on interaction with Spotify content.
  • Taboola Europe Ltd. - Taboola assigns a unique user ID that is used for mapping and reporting purposes.
  • TikTok - The TikTok cookie enables us to create campaign reports and gain valuable insights about website visitors who come through the campaigns we run on TikTok.
  • TV Squared Ltd. d/b/a InnovidXP - The cookie from TVSquared Ltd, d/b/a InnovidXP, collects data on user interactions with adverts on different devices and platforms. This information is used to measure ad performance, optimise delivery and gain insights into audience engagement.
  • Weborama - Weborama offers personalisation and segmentation solutions. Cookies are used to track user activity on our websites and to provide personalised content.

4. What options do I have?

You can help decide how Taxfix uses certain cookies and have the choice between various options for cookie management. This section explains what these options are and how you can make your choice. Please note that changes to your cookie settings may limit the user experience on our website. It cannot be ruled out that you will no longer be able to use all or parts of our website.

4.1. Consent management with Didomi

When you visit our website, you will be asked by our cookie consent management tool to actively consent to the use of non-essential cookies (e.g. for analyses and marketing) on your end device. After you have made a choice for the first time, you can check and change your settings at any time via the menu item "Update cookie settings". Please note the following: If you consent to the use of cookies that are not required and later withdraw this consent, we may continue to process data that has already been transmitted on the basis of the consent previously given.

4.2. Browser settings

In addition to the options already explained, you can also control the use of cookies through the settings of most web browsers by (i) rejecting some or all browser cookies and (ii) reviewing and re-setting cookies that are already stored on your device.

Here you will find manufacturer instructions for cookie control for the most common web browsers:

You can find more information about browsers in this guide: All About Cookies  .

4.3. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to analyse the use of our website and to compile reports on the activities of our users. In addition to the options shown above, you can exclude the use of Google Analytics by following the steps explained here  .

4.4. Internet-based advertising

External advertisers and advertising agencies with whom we work may be members of the Digital Advertising Alliance and/or the European Digital Advertising Alliance. You can limit or opt-out of receiving interest-based targeted advertising from participating companies through the Digital Advertising Alliance  and Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance  . If you opt out of receiving the relevant advertising on these websites, you will still be shown advertising. However, you will no longer see advertising from the companies participating in the opt-out programmes, which allow you to opt out of receiving the preferences determined on the basis of your internet usage. Please note: If you delete cookies on your device after you have opted out, your settings for these websites will be removed and you will have to opt out again.

5. Additions

We may amend or update this Cookie Policy at any time. Changes will become effective when we post the revised Cookie Policy on or through our website.
