Taxfix Cookie Policy

Last updated: February 2022

At Taxfix, we think it’s important to be clear and open about how we collect and use data concerning our users. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies (collectively referred to in this policy as “cookies”) to collect and use data as part of our site. “Our site” means our websites, emails, apps and other Services (as defined in our Privacy Policy) that links to this policy (this “Cookie Policy”). We explain here what cookies are, the types of cookies placed on your device when you use the App (as defined in our Privacy Policy), how we use them and your related choices.

A. What kinds of technologies are used?

Type of technology

Description

Cookies

A cookie is a small string of text that a website or online service stores on a user’s browser, which enables the site to remember things about the user. First-party cookies are set by (or on behalf of) us on our site. Third-party cookies are set by other companies whose functionality is embedded into our site (e.g. google.com). Generally, third-party cookies are set by our partners to help us analyze and improve our Services or for marketing purposes. We use both persistent cookies and session cookies. Session cookies are temporary cookies stored on your device while you visit our site, and they expire at the end of a browser session (normally when a user exits their browser). Persistent cookies have a longer lifespan – they expire on a set expiration date, or when they are deleted manually.

Pixels

A pixel is a one-pixel transparent image embedded on a webpage or message typically used to track whether that webpage or message was accessed or opened. Upon firing, a pixel logs a visit to the current page or message and may read or set cookies. We use pixels to learn more about your interactions with our email or web content, such as whether you interacted with our ads.

Tracking URL

Tracking URLs are custom generated links that help us understand where the traffic to our webpages comes from.

Local Storage

Similar to cookies, local storage enables a website or application to store information locally on your device. Local storage may be used to improve your experience by enabling features, remembering your preferences and speeding up site functionality.

JavaScript

JavaScript is a programming language. It can be used to write trackers that, when embedded into a page, allow us to measure how you interact with our site and other sites.

Otras tecnologías

We use other technologies such as mobile IDs for similar purposes as described in this Cookie Policy.

B. What are these technologies used for?

Like most providers of online services, we use cookies for a number of reasons, like improving our Services, keeping our site secure, helping us see which features are most popular, improving our users’ experience, providing relevant advertising, and just generally providing our customers with a more intuitive and tailored experience. We categorize our cookies as follows:

Type of technology

Description

Essential

We use cookies that are strictly necessary to operate our site and to provide you with the Services. This includes technologies that help identify and prevent security risks, keep you signed in, or allow you to make use of other functions and features. Without essential cookies, our site will not run smoothly and in fact, might not even be available to you due to technical limitations.

Analytics

These help us to understand how our application is being used, to measure the performance of our sites, and to customize and improve our application based on analytic insights.

Marketing

These are used to deliver advertisements and to make them more relevant and meaningful to our users, as well as to measure the performance of those advertising campaigns. For instance, we use cookies to learn whether content has been viewed, how many people clicked on a given ad, or whether someone who was presented with an ad later came back and took an action on our site.

C. Which specific cookies does Taxfix use?

The table provided here provides a detailed list of the cookies used on our application as part of our Services. Please note that this table may be updated from time to time to provide you with the latest information.

D. What are your choices?

You have choices on how Taxfix uses certain cookies and you have several cookie management options available to you. In this section, we’ll discuss what those choices are and how to make your election. Please note that changes you make to your cookie preference may make browsing our site a less satisfying experience. In some cases, you may find yourself unable to use all or part of our site

I. Cookie consent management

When you visit our site, you will be asked to provide affirmative consent to the usage of non-essential cookies (such as analytics and marketing) on your device via our cookie consent management tool. After your initial election, your settings can be found and visited here. You can change your preferences at any time by visiting these settings. However, please note that if you provide your consent to the usage of non-essential cookies and later withdraw your consent, this will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on your consent prior to withdrawal.

II. Browser settings

In addition to the options above, most web browsers allow you to also control cookies through browser settings, namely (i) refusing some or all browser cookies and (ii) reviewing and resetting cookies already stored on your device’s memory. Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but this is typically something you can adjust. Here are shortcuts to manufacturer’s instructions for cookie controls for the most common web browsers:

For more information about other browsers, please refer to this All About Cookies guide.

III. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager in order to evaluate use of our site and compile reports about our users’ activities. In addition to the options above, you can opt out of Google Analytics by following the instructions here.

IV. Internet-based advertisements

The third-party advertisers and ad agencies with which we work may be members of the Digital Advertising Alliance and/or the European Digital Advertising Alliance. You can control or opt out of interest-based ads targeting provided by participating companies by visiting Digital Advertising Alliance and European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance. Opting out via those sites does not mean you will not see advertising – it means you won’t see advertising from the companies that participate in the opt-out programs tailored based on your perceived or preferences (derived from your Internet use). Please also note that if you clear cookies on your device after you have opted out, the preferences you have set on those websites will be removed and you will need to opt-out again.

E. Amendments

We may amend or update this Cookie Policy at any time. Please check the “last updated” date at the top and bottom of this page to see when this Cookie Policy was last revised. Any change becomes effective when we post the revised Cookie Policy on or through our site.
